It’s a bit peculiar to start a blog on athletics on a day when I have nothing planned athletically. As a matter of fact I’m typing this at home knowing that down at the MUM Recreation Center there are probably 30 people (or  more) playing intense PB games all morning.

But today (Sunday)  is a rest day, which is not a bad thing, when you consider that my normal athletics schedule right now is something like this:

Monday

  • 6-7 am tennis ball machine or serving
  • 8:30-9:30 – hit with or give tennis lesson to Robert

Tuesday

  • 6-7 am tennis ball machine or serving
  • 8:45-11 – tennis drills and a few games with Lane, soft court (indoors or out)

Wednesday

  • 6-7 am tennis ball machine or serving
  • 8:45-10 – Pickleball drills with Lane

Thursday

  • 6-7 am tennis ball machine or serving
  • 8:30-10 – play a set with big lefty 30-something Aron

Friday

  • 6-7 am tennis ball machine or serving
  • 8:30-9:30 – hit with or give tennis lesson to Robert
  • 3:30 play a set or two with 60-something Bill

Saturday

  • 9-10:30 tennis singles rotation with my 3.5-4.0 group
  • 10:30 – noon same group but doubles

Sunday (in theory – but I’ve been slacking off recently)

  • 9-noon pickleball

It’s also a rest day from the amazing marathon rain delayed Iowa/Iowa State FB game, which, while it only included the occasional jumping up and down as exercise (e.g. – due to the miracle finish, for Iowa anyway), was still an ordeal.

Getting started on this blog, hope to do more, with posts long and short.
